During the opening Holy Cross Mass on Wednesday, August 28, 10 girls were commissioned as Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion for the Holy Cross community. The girls underwent training last spring after self-nominating to serve and receiving affirmation from their home parishes. Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion have an understanding and conviction about the Catholic teaching of the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist and regular participation in the Sacraments, including regular attendance at Sunday Mass. The ministers will serve at Holy Cross liturgies throughout the year.
