On Wednesday, May 1, Holy Cross was recognized for completing the No Place for Hate program for the 2018-2019 school year at the third annual No Place for Hate Recognition Ceremony. The event took place at the Howard Theatre in Washington, DC. The six students and two moderators from the No Place for Hate team attended the event. During the program, each school in attendance was presented with their No Place for Hate banner. Shelby Wilson ’20 accepted the banner for the Academy. Marina Buziak ’22 was one of 10 students who spoke about their experience during an open mic. Marina shared that this program helped her to feel more welcome at Holy Cross.
No Place for Hate is a program of the Anti-Defamation League. To gain the recognition as a No Place for Hate school, the Holy Cross team conducted activities and discussions with the school community about kindness, by-standing, and bullying, the definition and application of respect, and the harm of micro-aggressions.
