Emily Teter, Director of Holy Cross Social Justice, was awarded the Catholic Diocese of Arlington's Bishop Loverde Award: "For Exceptional Volunteer Service to Diocesan Youth Ministry" at the 15th Annual Youth, Campus, and Young Adult Ministries Appreciation Mass and Dinner on Tuesday, December 11. The award is given by the Office of Youth, Campus, and Young Adult Ministries to a volunteer who consistently gives generously of time and talent at diocesan youth events. There are no nominations. The staff considers the volunteers who have given their time and talent to support the office and volunteer to make events happen. They unanimously agreed that Emily was that person this year.

Emily has been active in the Diocese of Arlington since she was a young person and has volunteered as an adult for many years. Her assistance to the Office of Youth, Campus, and Young Adult Ministries has been invaluable. She has volunteered for large events, assisted with training activities, and introduced new initiatives. One such initiative was "Cookie Ministry," an opportunity for Directors of Youth Ministry to go into high schools with milk and cookies and just hang out with hundreds of students.

In addition to coordinating Social Justice programs for our students at Holy Cross, Emily has also coordinated several special service trips. She also initiated the Holy Cross Gives Thanks activity before Thanksgiving and organized the Day of Service, where the entire Holy Cross community worked at 18 different service organizations on one day.
